Stress & The Breath: My Story

I can remember at one point in my life not being able to breathe.
Trying to breathe would literally bring up so much fear, anxiety and sadness. It felt like there were memories trapped in my tears I refused to release.
And if i did release, I was afraid I would explode.
But I knew I had no choice or...I would explode.
Or fade into robotic, life siphoning, dulling habits of coping.
Yoga was the key to me learning to breathe, linking my physical, flowing movements with my breathe. This led me to the deeply beautiful practice of Yoga Nidra, which further taught me that my breath was important to physical and emotional healing.
The breath feels like grace and nurturing love to me; a love that is connected to everything. It enables me to dance with the earth in the form of plants, trees, animals and other humans. We are all sharing a beautiful infinite expression of divinity that is the air. And I am so grateful.
Now in moments of stress, my breath activates without me even trying. When I intentionally let go into softness, my body intelligence innately activates deep breaths. It shows up like that best friend you never need to question. They just know.
Truthfully, this connection grows when there is an unwavering decision to create space for oneself. This way of being is not just for certain people. It is within all of us to connect to this part of us that activates Yoga: the yoking of mind, body and spirit. The emotional healer that is a bridge to the holy spirit, prana, shakti and/or cosmic intelligence.
Within us is the nurture we seek.
I created a meditation to help you relieve stress while nurturing a relationship with your breath. Give it a try. Along with this meditation there are more simple meditations to help you create this deeply healing connection. Click the picture below to go to the meditation or scroll through my YouTube Channel. Thank you for taking time to share with me.
